Woodpecker

Woodpecker, Woodpecker

If you could

Would you ever stop pecking wood?

I know you as you dip and skim

Through the canopy, or along the rim

Of clapping trees

And dancing leaves.

Who provide cover in your clear unease,

Of a curious human, with childlike pleasure,

Watching from her window, while at her leisure.
